A day in San Diego

Today was spent in a place called La Jolla, just outside San Diego, where I went snorkelling with my family. It was an great experience as I have never been before and although the visibility wasn't great I still managed to see a Garibaldi fish and a small Leopard Shark!

To cope with the hot 30C temperatures that are usually unheard of in Scotland I opted for shorts and a sleeveless top.

Top (Topshop) Shorts (Originally jeans from) Belt (Primark) Necklace (vintage) Shoes (Target)

Although, unfortunately, I'm not going to any festivals this year I love the whole hippy, festival, flower-power look. This top incorporates the bright colours and the floral nature of summer to create the ultimate top to wear out on a sunny day. The thin material also makes the clothing very breathable so perfect for when the sun is beating down.

My shorts were a hand me down and were originally jeans. It's a great way to reuse old items particularly if your jeans are now too big so can be slightly baggy and loose. It's a much better and cheaper way of creating rough and worn looking shorts than spending money on no ones which are made to look old.
My dad always says "Back in my day we would wear our jeans until they ripped and faded and that's when you needed a new pair. Nowadays you just buy them already old, what a waste!" He's actually spot on and because of him I never buy a new pair of jeans that has rips in them - if I want rips and tears, I make my own.

My necklace is a personal favourite. It's silver because I prefer my jewellery silver rather than gold because it suits me better and also in my opinion it goes with more of my clothes. It's in the style of an Indian dream catcher and was bought in Kanab, Utah, USA. A dream catcher is meant to catch all dreams, good and bad. The bad are trapped and the good are stored for one each night. I genuinely believe dream catchers work so this necklace means a lot. I also make sure I have a dream catcher in my bed room.

The shoes I bought while on holiday in America in a shop called Target which is basically like a huge Asda or Tescos with the clothes sections. They're very comfortable, great to wear on the beach or walking in town and I love the green/blue which adds another splash of colour that is seen in my necklace as well.

More holiday posts coming up!

Speak soon! Love, Alice
